Thomas Longthorn
Thomas Longthorn (1815-1896) was once trying to dry out his powder horn and foolishly applied a red hot poker to the small end to clean and dry it. Some powder was still inside in the narrow part unknown to him and an explosion followed, seriously damaging him about the hands and face.
