34 Henry VIII – Carriage and weighing of lead.
Item paid to Mr. Gylmyne, the Crane man at York, for striking 48 pieces of lead out of the scales in the crane house there, which was delivered to Hull for every twenty pieces 8d the 14th of December, in Henry VIII’s 34th year, total = 19d; And paid to him for like .. (next year) .. for 53 pieces 21d; and paid to him for weighing the same 53 pieces after 26 fother, 5d in total 10s 10d, and given in regard to the said Mr. Gylmyne 5s; and paid to the crane men, the same day, for taking up, weighing and striking the same 26 other, every fother 3d, in total 6s 6d; and for the carriage of the same 26 fother from Boroughbridge to York every fother 8d, in total 17s 44d; and to Henry Atkinson, for carriage of 9 pieces of the same lead from Fountains to Boroughbridge, the 20th day of June, 35 pred. every load 2s 8d in total 13s 4d and paid to Robert Elles for carriage of 22 pieces from his bale hill to Boroughbridge of the same lead, every fother 5s, in total 55s
