Family Information
John Busfield was born at Greenhow in 1815, his parents were Abraham Busfield (1777-1863) and Eliziabeth Richmond (1773-1854) who were married at Pateley Bridge on 1st February 1803. John’s wife, whom he married at Pateley Bridge on 13th April 1838, was Sarah Marshall, born at Hardcastle in 1818, the daughter of Thomas Marshall (1788-abt 1850) and Anne Stoddart (1788-1870) who were married at Pateley Bridge on 1st December 1807.
After Sarah died in June 1895, John appears to have gone to live with his son Abraham (1839-1915) in Shipley where he passed away in 1898.
One of John & Sarah’s children, Thomas (1851-1886) was killed by an explosion caused by a stick of dynamite he was trying to warm.
John’s “only sister” was Bridget Elizabeth Busfield (1806-1896) who married Nathan Pounder (1804-1878) at Pateley Bridge on 7th December 1829. Nathan was Bridget’s second husband, her first was Duncan Mackwell (1800-1826) who died shortly after they were married in 1825.
